People Magazine has named Patrick “McDreamy” Dempsey the “Star of the Year” for 2007. He received the title for several reasons, his amazing career, and his home life.

“Grey’s Anatomy” the TV show that Patrick stars in had a particularly good year. He also did excellently well in the film, “Enchanted” along Amy Adams (who won “The Breakout” award). Patrick’s twin sons, Darby Galen and Sullivan Patrick, were also born this year to his second wife, Jillian Fink Dempsey.

Patrick told the magazine, “I’m just enjoying life more than I ever have…I’m trying to enjoy the moment while it’s here and to be able to provide for my family so that I can step away and enjoy raising them away from all this.”

Other stars were also recognized. Katherine Heigl has been named “America’s Newest Sweetheart.” Carrie Underwood has been named “The Chart Topper,” Will Smith “The Biggest Legend,” and Christina Applegate “Comeback of the Year.”Matt Damon was awarded “The Sexiest Hero,” (I think that sounds a little too familiar, but what do I know?) Johnny Depp is well deserving of the “Most Versatile Actor” award, and Ben Affleck was awarded, “Best Behaved Star.”

Even Britney Spears was acknowledged with “The Most Talked About Star.” Ouch
