Dennis Quaid and (wife) Kimberly Buffington’s twins were born November 8, and now, the newborns are struggling for their lives. A nurse accidentally gave them an overdose of a drug, Heparin, an anti-coagulant which flushes out the IV lines and prevents blood clots. Generally, babies are given ten units. Thomas Boone and Zoe Grace were given 10,000 units.

A technician stored the drug in the wrong place, and the nurse gave the babies an overdose when she didn’t read the label. They have been given Protamine, which reverses the effects of Heparin Unfortunately, the twins weren’t the only people to receive an overdose. At least thirteen patients at Los Angelos’ Cedars-Sinai Medical Center were, as well.
